Carter Wilson Commits to ND
Last season, the OFC took the bold step of raising its age limit from U23 to U25. That put some teenaged players at a disadvantage, competing against those who are well into adulthood - both at tryouts and then games. For Sooners' defensive lineman Carter Wilson, it wasn't a problem. Not only did Wilson overcome the age difference (he turned 17 the week before the 2014 season began), he was a beast. Wilson was the 2014 OFC Defensive Lineman of the year, helping the Sooners to a 7-1 regular season record and first place in the OFC.
Wilson's off season was even better. First he was selected to play for Football Canada’s U-18 entry in a Jan. 30 International Bowl series game at the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Wilson helped Canada defeat the U.S. 25-9. Then the NCAA came calling. On June 6th, Wilson signed a commitment with the North Dakota Fighting Sioux, who play in the Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). He'll join the Sioux for the fall season.
Sioux football alumni includes Weston Dressler (Saskatchewan Roughriders 2008-present), Jim Kleinsasser (Minnesota Vikings 1999-2011), Milson Jones (Winnipeg, Edmonton, Saskatchewan (1982-92), Lawrie Skolrood (Saskatchewan, Hamilton 1974-87) and Super Bowl winner Errol Mann (Green Bay, Detroit, Oakland 1968-78).
We suspect one day the school will be bragging that Carter Wilson went there.
